Who we look for
Condensed-matter and quantum-materials experimentalists
You have worked with real samples and real cryostats, and you want harder materials questions than the ones you have been given so far.
Mesoscopic transport and 2D-device researchers
You fabricate and measure van der Waals devices, and the idea of electrons that refract sounds like something you would like to build.
Strong physics students, not yet specialised
You do not know yet what you want to do. That is fine — we would rather train someone excellent than hire someone already narrow.
What you get
| Serious training | Close mentoring early, real independence later, and the expectation that you will run your own programme one day. |
| Rare instruments | Cryogenic transport, a high-power mid-IR ultrafast laser for high-field and Floquet work, and time-resolved exciton spectroscopy — in one group. |
| Original questions | Two young programmes with room in them. Early people shape what the lab becomes. |
| A warm group | Collaborative, informal, and genuinely interested in each other’s experiments. |
